With reference to my lettersted 8th June and 4th August 1905, and to your letter No: 19760/1905, dated 24th July, 1905, I am commanded by the Army Council to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that the Colonial Defence Committee's memorandum with regard to the garrison of Hong Kong has been considered by the Com- mittee of Imperial Defence, who approved of the recommendation made by the Colonial Defence Committee.
The Council have accepted in principle the recommen- dation of the Committee of Imperial Defence.
